The difference between the top and bottom of the Ekstraliga was clear on Friday as bottom team GET WELL Torun were humiliated as they visited top of the table FOGO UNIA Leszno.
The final score was 64:26 and the guests did not win a single heat all night and had already lost the match when there was still five races to go.
In the nominations heat, Leszno put in two riders who had won the U21 team world championship for Poland in Manchester recently instead of their top names - and still won. 3 riders scored maximums for the home team, Janusz Kolodziej, Emil Sayfutdinov and Piotr Pawlicki.
Jason Doyle, usually the best rider for Toruń, scored an embarrassing 5+1 as the whole club failed to get off the start line.
It was perhaps fitting that it was in this way that Torun confirmed their relegation to the Nice 1 league. It typified their poor season, where good riders have repeatedly failed to reach their potential for the club that is historically one of Poland’s best ever.
